New York Times report on Trump’s dream for Zelensky after January 20.
The New York Times reported that the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump will likely reduce Washington’s military aid to Kyiv after he takes office following his inauguration on January 20, 2025.
According to the report, Kyiv depends on foreign aid to keep its economy afloat. However, it is unlikely that Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress will continue to provide military and financial aid to Kyiv at the same level as the current US administration under Joe Biden.
During his election campaign, Trump repeatedly promised to end the war between Ukraine and Russia within 24 hours. On December 8, the US President-elect said in an interview with NBC that Ukraine should prepare itself to reduce US aid.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also acknowledged on several occasions that US aid could be reduced or even cut off after Trump takes office.
