New York Times: There is evidence of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon

PNN – The New York Times reported that there was evidence of negotiations that could lead to a fire between Lebanon and Israel.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, this American newspaper wrote on Thursday, quoting informed officials: There are signs that Israel and Lebanon support talks that could soon lead to a ceasefire. Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron called for “immediate support” for the proposal from both parties.

Australia, Canada, the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar approved the proposal presented by the United States and France. In a joint statement, all these countries called for an “immediate 21-day ceasefire” across the border of Lebanon and the occupied territories in order to provide space for further negotiations.

Two informed American officials expressed hope that the three-week truce would provide an opportunity for a permanent cessation of hostilities between the two sides. They noted that Israel and Lebanon have supported rapid-fire talks in the past 48 hours and may soon agree to the proposal.

A source familiar with the matter told The New York Times that diplomats held talks with both sides and expressed hope that representatives of their governments would accept the proposal “in the coming hours.”

Sky News also reported, citing senior officials that a 21-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is to be implemented along the border “in the coming hours.”

This network quoted an American government official and wrote: The ceasefire will be for 21 days along the Blue Line (the border line that separates Lebanon from occupied Palestine and the Golan Heights).

According to the report, during these three weeks, the parties will negotiate a potential resolution of the conflict and hold talks to reach a comprehensive agreement along the Blue Line that will allow residents to return to their homes.

According to Sky News, the ceasefire is expected to be established only along the northern border and not extend to Gaza.
