PNN – An American newspaper reported that Trump’s statements regarding the suspension of attacks on Iranian infrastructure do not mean a halt to the war, and that the United States is considering occupying Kharg and seizing Iranian uranium.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network the American newspaper “The New York Times” have reported that Washington’s decision to halt attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days does not mean abandoning further attacks.
According to the report, informed sources say that the United States and the Israeli regime are still considering more aggressive scenarios; including occupying Kharg Island and sending ground forces to seize Iran’s highly enriched uranium reserves.
According to the newspaper, even at the time of the announcement of the cessation of attacks, the United States and Israel continued other attacks against Iran, and American military forces were also being deployed to the region.
The New York Times continued that US President Donald Trump is still evaluating more aggressive options for continuing the operation.
According to the report, the scenarios being discussed include an operation to seize Kharg Island, from which most of Iran’s oil exports are made, as well as the possibility of deploying US ground forces to secure control over highly enriched uranium reserves, which is also an option being considered by the US.
According to the New York Times, Trump claimed that he ordered a halt to attacks on Iranian power plants after initial contacts between American and Iranian officials, describing the talks as “positive and productive.”
However, the newspaper emphasized that American officials consider these contacts to be “in the very early stages and lacking serious content,” and on the other hand, Tehran officials officially deny any negotiations on the conditions for ending the military conflict.
The report claims that US special envoy Stephen Whittaker has spoken directly with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in recent days, but Iran sees the calls as more of an effort to de-escalate tensions and prevent further attacks on vital energy infrastructure.
Donald Trump claimed in a message on Social Truth on Monday that talks between Iran and the United States had been “very positive and productive” and ordered the Pentagon to halt attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure for five days.
In contrast, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, emphasized that no talks are underway with the United States and that fake news in this regard is being spread with the aim of manipulating the markets.
