PNN – In a report examining the experience of the US Patriot defense system confronting an Iranian retaliatory missile attack on the largest US base in the region, Newsweek admitted that 30 Patriot defense missiles were fired to intercept 14 Iranian missiles.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Newsweek quoted researchers from the American Jewish National Security Institute as saying that the cost of this number of defensive missiles to counter Iranian missiles was $111 million.
This is despite previous news reports citing satellite images revealing that Iranian missiles were able to penetrate this defense and hit a geodesic dome that houses equipment used by the United States for secure communications.

A geodesic dome is a spherical or hemispherical structure made up of a network of interconnected triangles, inside which radar and communication equipment is located.
Newsweek also reported, citing American military leaders, that Iran’s missile attack on US military positions at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which was carried out in retaliation for the US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, triggered unprecedented air defense operations in the field.
Newsweek wrote: This is important because Japan and South Korea face increasing missile threats from North Korea, while China is also developing its own long-range arsenal that can target US bases in Japan. The US has 55,000 troops in Japan and 28,500 in South Korea.
