Newsweek: Women’s candidacy in Iran’s elections set a record

Newsweek: Women’s candidacy in Iran’s elections set a record.

The American publication Newsweek wrote in an analysis on Thursday (February 29) that the number of women who were nominated in the elections of the Islamic Council of Iran was more than in any other period.

This American publication lists the names of about 1,713 women on the list of people whose qualifications have been approved by the Guardian Council to run in the elections, which is twice the number of women who participated in the 2020 elections.

Newsweek wrote that despite these women who hope to enter the parliament, they constitute a small part of the 15,200 candidates who hope to enter the parliament this year.
