Newsweek: Yemen’s Ansarullah calls US attacks a failure

PNN – The Newsweek website quoted an official from Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, rejecting the claim that the US attacks on the country were successful, saying that the movement had information about these attacks before they were carried out. He also said about reports of Iranian forces withdrawing from the country: There are no Iranian forces present in Yemen that want to withdraw, so there is no need to deny this.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Newsweek quoted a senior Yemeni Ansarullah official as denying the impact of the US strikes, which Donald Trump called “tremendously successful” and resulted in the killing of a large number of the movement’s senior leaders.

This is while Muammar al-Aryani, the Minister of Intelligence of the ousted Yemeni government, confirmed the US President’s claim yesterday and claimed that more than 70 Ansarullah forces, including prominent commanders, had been killed.

Meanwhile, this senior Ansarullah official, who asked not to be named, told Newsweek: All of this information is false, and the information published since the beginning of the escalation of US tensions against Yemen, whether about the destruction of military capabilities or the targeting of the movement’s leaders, is misleading and far from reality.

Yemen, a thorn in the side of imperialism; from missile self-sufficiency to the humiliation of the American ship.

The British newspaper Daily Telegraph last Thursday quoted a senior Iranian official as claiming that Iran has begun withdrawing its military forces from Yemen because it believes that Ansarullah “cannot survive” in the coming months or even days.

In an interview with Newsweek, this senior Ansarullah official ridiculed the claim of Iran’s military presence in Yemen, saying: There are no Iranian forces present in Yemen that want to withdraw; therefore, this issue does not need to be denied and is ridiculous.

CNN reported Friday night, citing informed sources, that US military action against Yemen has so far cost about $1 billion but has had “limited impact on destroying Houthi capabilities.”

The American network reported, citing three unnamed sources, that the US military offensive over the past three weeks, which began on March 15, has used hundreds of millions of dollars in munitions, including long-range JASSM cruise missiles, JSOW guided bombs, and Tomahawk missiles.

In addition, B-2 bombers based in Diego Garcia have been deployed, and an additional aircraft carrier and several fighter squadrons and air defense systems will soon be added to the US Central Command (CENTCOM) region.

One informed source said that the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) will likely ask Congress for additional funding to continue the operation, but it is unlikely to receive this funding because both US political parties (Democrats and Republicans) have criticized the attack on Yemen.
