Nine countries have announced their readiness to join BRICS.
According to TV BRICS, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov announced that from January 1, 2025, Belarus, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan will become BRICS partner countries.
According to Ushakov, these countries have expressed their desire to join BRICS. He also added that Moscow is waiting for a response (invitation to join BRICS) from four more countries.
BRICS partner countries can submit their proposals but will not participate in the process of approving documents and voting.
In the final statement of the 16th BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, the BRICS member countries welcomed the interest and willingness of other countries to join the group. The summit also agreed on a list of countries that were subsequently invited to join BRICS.
