North Korean leader orders ‘mass production’ of suicide drones.
North Korean state media announced that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has ordered the “mass production” of attack and suicide drones, stressing that the widespread presence of such military weapons around the world requires Pyongyang to update its military doctrines.
According to the North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim on Friday supervised the testing of drones designed to strike land and sea targets; the drones are produced by the North Korean Unmanned Aerial Technology Complex (UATC).
The North Korean leader stressed the need for urgent and mass production of the drones as soon as possible, according to the North Korean Central News Agency.
“Suicide drones” are aircraft carrying explosives designed to deliberately strike enemy targets.
Kim Jong-un previously personally supervised the testing of the country’s suicide drones when announcing the rapid development of military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.
Suicide drones are widely used in the war in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East.
In the latest development in the claim of military cooperation between North Korea and Russia in the war in Ukraine, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol on Thursday reiterated the claim that North Korea has sent troops to Russia to help it fight against Ukraine said that continued cooperation between North Korea and Russia would lead to Seoul’s increased support for Kyiv.
The South Korean president said: “If they do not stop their dangerous military operations, we are ready to take appropriate and effective measures, including increasing assistance to Ukraine in coordination with allies and like-minded countries.”
According to him, the alleged dispatch of forces from North Korea to Russia to participate in the war against Ukraine “not only poses a serious security threat to the Korean Peninsula and Europe but also threatens the world.” He also expressed concern about the transfer of military technology from Moscow to Pyongyang.
The South Korean president, once again repeating the claim of sending forces from North Korea to Russia, said: “North Korea, which has had no combat experience for more than 70 years, is now benefiting from modern military knowledge and science during the war in Ukraine!”
