Norway’s foreign minister’s defense of his country’s decision to recognize Palestine: it is the right thing to do

PNN – Norway’s Foreign Minister “Spenbart Eid” in defense of his country’s decision to recognize the independent state of Palestine said that this is the right move.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoted by Al-Jazeera, Eid emphasized on Wednesday: Palestinian people have the right to have their own country. We have had this view for years.

He added: As we are witnessing the terrible attack on Israel, the extreme violence in Gaza, the violence of settlers in the West Bank and the situation in general is getting out of control.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare Store announced on Wednesday that he will recognize the state of Palestine by May 28.

He called for the solution of the Palestinian issue by restarting the reconciliation process and said: The solution to the Palestinian issue is political and we are working for a (so-called) two-state solution.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Wednesday that Madrid will recognize the state of Palestine on May 28.

According to the report of “Irish Independent”, the Irish government announced in a statement that Dublin will recognize Palestine as an independent country on May 28.

Meanwhile, the “TRT World” website wrote, the contact between Ireland, Spain, Slovenia and Malta has increased, considering that these countries jointly recognize the Palestinian state.

In response to the efforts of some European countries to recognize the independent state of Palestine, Josep Burrell, the head of the European Union’s foreign policy, wrote: I am aware of today’s position of two EU members – Ireland and Spain – as well as Norway regarding the recognition of the independent state of Palestine.

He added: I work tirelessly within the framework of “common foreign and security policy” with all EU member states to spread a common position based on a two-state solution.
