Notable highlights of Trump’s first speech to the US Congress.
US President Donald Trump’s first speech to Congress was marred by controversy. Only half of the House, the Republicans, stood up to applaud Trump.
Democrats did not stand up and refused to applaud Trump.
Another notable feature of the speech was the large number of Democrats holding signs reading “Failure.”
One congressman walked out of the session in protest.
US President Donald Trump said in his live televised address to Congress: “Tonight, I have a message for the wonderful people of Greenland. We strongly support your right to determine your future, and if you choose, we will welcome you to the United States of America.”
He added: “We need Greenland for our national and international interests, and we are working with all parties involved to get it.”
Trump claimed, “But we need Greenland for international security, and I think we’re going to get it, one way or another.”
