Öcalan: SDF should be integrated into the Syrian army.
According to Al-Mayadeen, Abdullah Ocalan, leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), said in a statement: “I support the March 10 agreement signed between the Syrian (transitional) government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and this agreement must be implemented.”
He emphasized: “The integration of the SDF forces into the Syrian army is an important issue, but the ‘Asayish’ forces (the Kurdish security organization) must take responsibility for security in the areas of influence of the SDF forces.”
Mazum Abdi, commander of the SDF, and Ahmed al-Shara, head of the Syrian interim government, signed an agreement on March 10 that includes several articles, including the integration of civil and military institutions affiliated with the self-proclaimed Kurdish government into national institutions by the end of the year, but some differences of opinion between the parties have so far hindered progress in implementing this agreement.
