Oil tankers turned back from Hormuz

Hormuz

PNN – The AUROURA tanker suddenly changed course near Musandam and returned to the interior of the Persian Gulf while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, at a time when maritime traffic was restricted.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; citing the data obtained from maritime traffic tracking systems, the AUROURA tanker, which was heading towards the exit of the Strait of Hormuz, suddenly changed course near the coast of Musandam (near Khasab) and returned to the depths of the Persian Gulf by making a 180-degree turn.

The vessel, which is classified as an Oil Products Tanker, is currently reported to be traveling west/northwest and within the inner Persian Gulf.

A geographical survey shows that the change of direction occurred in one of the most sensitive points of the international waterway, namely the area between Lark Island and the Musandam Peninsula; a point that is of particular importance in terms of the density of passage of energy-carrying vessels and geopolitical considerations. According to maritime experts, such a movement pattern (U-turn) in this area is due to operational factors or management decisions and receiving orders from regulatory authorities and Iranian maritime patrol units.

It is worth noting that hours ago, following the Zionist regime’s attacks on Lebanon, the Islamic Republic of Iran completely closed the Strait of Hormuz to 99% of ships, and only a few oil tankers belonging to Iran and China are seen transiting.
