Old Men’s Battalion is Formed in the Israeli Army.
In the wake of the manpower crisis, the Israeli army has agreed to form a new battalion of senior reserve forces for the first time; the battalion will include people aged 50 to 55, and its purpose is to participate in border defense missions.
According to the I24 News website, the Israeli army’s planning department yesterday approved the establishment of a new battalion called “Etsemon” for senior reserve infantry forces. The battalion has officially become operational and is set to take on defense duties in border areas.
According to Hebrew-speaking sources, planning for the establishment of this battalion began at the beginning of the recent war, but has now entered the implementation phase. It is expected that more than 3,000 former army personnel aged 50 to 55 will be organized into this unit. Even older people will be accepted in command positions.
In the initial stages, the Atsamoun Battalion will be prepared to participate in structural exercises and then participate in operational missions in the form of smaller units under the command of the army’s home front.
