Pak media: Moscow, Tehran to mediate between Afghanistan, Pakistan.
The Geo News Network website quoted a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying that Moscow is deeply concerned about the escalation of tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Geo News wrote: After Iran, Russia has also announced its readiness to mediate between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman called the ongoing tensions between Kabul and Islamabad a serious threat to regional peace and called for restraint on both sides.
He said that Moscow is ready to help de-escalate tensions between Kabul and Islamabad and believes that such efforts will ensure sustainable security in the region.
Geo Pakistan News Network reported that Moscow is also ready to help resolve the differences between Kabul and Islamabad, in line with Tehran.
The report states: Last week, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed concern about the recent tensions between the two neighboring countries and announced that Tehran is ready to help de-escalate tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.
Dr. Araqchi also held telephone consultations with the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Qatar, as the mediators of the three rounds of talks between Islamabad and Kabul, and discussed current issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
