Pakistan launches first hyperspectral satellite into space.
The successful launch of the satellite, codenamed “HS-1” from a launch facility in China, is a major milestone for Pakistan, the Foreign Office said in a statement today.
The HS-1 satellite is equipped with advanced hyperspectral imaging technology capable of recording data in hundreds of narrow spectral bands. This capability enables precise monitoring and analysis of land use, vegetation health, water resources, and urban development.
The Foreign Office stressed that this achievement also highlights the long-standing cooperation with China in peaceful space exploration and its application for socio-economic development.
The satellite is expected to significantly enhance Pakistan’s indigenous capabilities in areas such as precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, urban planning and disaster management.
The high-resolution data from the HS-1 hyperspectral satellite will support improved resource management and strengthen Pakistan’s resilience to climate-related challenges.
