At the same time, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, in an interview with a Pakistani media outlet, called Islamabad’s past policy toward Afghanistan a mistake and emphasized that the country’s army is now acting in an unprecedented level of coordination.

He said: Those who previously thought the Taliban were aligned with us and traveled to Kabul must be held accountable and regret their decisions.

The remarks came as tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban have risen following Islamabad’s recent attacks on parts of Afghanistan. Turkey and Qatar have previously tried to mediate and the two countries have agreed to a ceasefire. Iran has also announced that a regional meeting will be held in December to resolve issues between Kabul and Islamabad.

Pakistan and the Taliban have had tense relations in recent months, with Islamabad’s main concern being the infiltration of militant and terrorist groups into Afghan soil. Efforts for regional mediation by Turkey, Qatar, Iran and Russia are ongoing to prevent an escalation of tensions and threats to regional security.

However, the Taliban government considers the issue of insecurity to be Pakistan’s internal problem and has repeatedly emphasized that no country will be threatened from Afghan soil.
