Islamabad has repeatedly defended its deep and strategic ties with Beijing and, while expressing its desire to maintain equal relations with the United States, has said that Pakistan’s bilateral relations with each of these countries are based on an independent approach and that the development of these relations with one of them is never against the other.
The Pakistan Army Public Relations Office issued a statement moments ago saying, During Asim Munir’s visit to Beijing, he held a series of high-level meetings with senior Chinese political and military leaders and emphasized the strong strategic partnership between the two countries.
The Pakistani army chief held separate meetings with the vice president, foreign minister, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, political commissar of the army, and chief of staff of the Chinese People’s Army.
The talks between the Pakistani army chief and Chinese officials focused on the evolving regional and global political landscape, connectivity initiatives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, and the need for coordinated responses to shared geopolitical challenges.
Expressing satisfaction with the depth of bilateral engagement, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to sovereign equality, multilateral cooperation, and long-term regional stability.
Chinese officials also praised the Pakistani armed forces as a cornerstone of resilience and a vital factor in peace in South Asia.
