Pakistani diplomat warns of nuclear response to India.
According to India Today, Pakistan’s ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, says that there is a possibility of a nuclear war following the attack on a group of tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Jamali says that if India attacks Pakistan, Islamabad will respond with all its military might.
According to Jamali, Pakistan will not enter into a dispute with India over military power. He stressed: “We will use all our power, both conventional and nuclear.”
He added: “The Pakistani armed forces, supported by the Pakistani people, will respond with all their might.”
26 people, most of them tourists, were killed in the April 22 attack on the Pahalgam tourist resort in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
India has blamed the neighboring country for the attack, but Islamabad has denied any connection to the incident. However, Islamabad has proposed an impartial, third-party investigation into the extent of the incident.
Following the incident and the escalation of tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, their already strained relations have been further strained. The two sides have taken a series of retaliatory measures, including canceling some treaties, closing airspace, and holding air and naval exercises against each other.
