Pakistani journalists who traveled to Israel may have their citizenship revoked.

The Pakistani government has put on the agenda the consideration of revoking the citizenship of a group of Pakistani journalists following their visit to Israel.

Pakistani Deputy Interior Minister Talal Chaudhry announced that if it is proven that Pakistani journalists traveled to Israel using official Pakistani passports, their citizenship will be revoked.

Speaking to the media, he added: “No Pakistani citizen can travel to Israel using this country’s passport. If journalists or other individuals have traveled to Israel using Pakistani passports, we will consider revoking their citizenship.”

This issue has been raised following the visit of a group of 10 Pakistani journalists to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in mid-March.

The visit, which has caused controversy among Pakistani officials, appears to have faced serious opposition from the Islamabad government.
