Pakistani media covers the second round of Islamabad-Kabul talks.
The second round of talks between Islamabad and Kabul, which opened yesterday in Istanbul, hosted by Turkey, has now entered its second day.
Pakistani media outlets, citing informed sources, announced that both sides have exchanged their proposals and demands and that another intensive negotiation will be held today.
The reports state that senior representatives of Turkey and Qatar, as mediators of the talks between Pakistan and the caretaker government of Afghanistan, are also present in these meetings and it is expected that these talks will be extended to the third day.
Pakistani network Geo News reported that the Islamabad delegation has presented its proposals to prevent the movement of terrorists from Afghan territory to Pakistan in the form of a comprehensive plan to the Taliban delegation, and they have also submitted a list of their demands to the Pakistani delegation.
Some other reports indicate that the parties present at the Istanbul talks are examining four principal points in the talks, including confronting anti-Pakistan groups, border management, trade, and organizing Afghan refugees.
Informed sources added: A decisive round to reach a final agreement will be held this afternoon in the presence of mediators.
Kabul’s draft focused on ensuring that Afghanistan’s air and land space are not violated, as well as not allowing opposition groups to use Pakistani soil against the Taliban government.
Islamabad claims that the talks are focused solely on one issue: that Kabul must contain and limit cross-border terrorism led by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
According to IRNA, Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban agreed to immediately implement a ceasefire and create mechanisms to establish lasting peace and stability during the first round of talks (after violent clashes on each other’s borders) held on Saturday, October 18, in Doha with the mediation of Qatar and Turkey.
The parties agreed to establish an immediate ceasefire and design mechanisms to establish lasting peace and security between the two countries.
