Pakistani minister’s visit to Persian Gulf countries; developments in the subcontinent on the agenda.
The Pakistani Interior Minister, as a special envoy of the Islamabad government, will begin his visits to the capitals of the Persian Gulf countries from today.
The Pakistani Interior Ministry issued a statement announcing that the purpose of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi’s visit to the Persian Gulf countries is to brainstorm and exchange views on developments in South Asia.
In the first phase of these visits, he will arrive in Muscat today and meet with senior Omani officials during a one-day visit.
According to the report, the Pakistani Prime Minister had a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar last week about tensions with India.
Shahbaz Sharif also met with the ambassadors of some Arab countries of the Persian Gulf in Islamabad in recent days.
In this regard, the Pakistani Prime Minister, while talking on the phone with Dr. Masoud Peshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, welcomed Tehran’s announcement of readiness to help defuse tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.
In addition to talking with Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Pakistani Foreign Minister also contacted a number of his counterparts in the region and Western countries.
