Pakistani newspaper: Trump’s insistence on military option regarding Iran is childish behavior

PNN – The Pakistani newspaper “The Express Tribune” likened the US President’s confusion in managing tensions with the Islamic Republic of Iran to being on the edge of a precipice, writing: On the one hand, Donald Trump is trying to extinguish the fire of the war in Ukraine while at the same time threatening to bomb Tehran, which is indicative of his childish behavior and the repetition of the United States’ wrong experiences.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the English-language newspaper Express Tribune wrote in its editorial titled Trump’s threats against Iran that Trump’s threat to bomb Iran echoes similar policies of his predecessors in the White House, where American officials were obsessed with finding military solutions when dealing with Iraq, Afghanistan and North Korea.

The editorial continued: Despite the bombing of Afghanistan, which aimed to destroy an entire race, Afghans are alive today, Iraqis are alive too, and they forced the United States to talk to them through realpolitik.

Furthermore, it is surprising that Trump is seeking peace with Russia and China, stopping the war in Ukraine, and maneuvering to resolve the Palestinian issue, but is very keen on gun diplomacy with Iran. Therefore, Trump, who considers himself a versatile dealmaker, would be acting childishly if he were to resort to force against Iran.

The Express Tribune described the US President’s handling of tensions with Iran as being on the brink of a precipice, writing: Trump’s attempt to make the Islamic Republic of Iran surrender to bombing is disturbing.

According to the newspaper, Tehran is seeking interaction and, of course, is steadfast in its positions on the revival of the JCPOA, and wants any process to follow this path.

The English-language newspaper added at the end: The US President’s efforts to negotiate directly with Iran and then threaten the country are very strange, although the effectiveness of sanctions or threats can only be speculation.

The US President has once again resorted to the language of threats and force and has explicitly threatened the Islamic Republic of Iran with military action. Trump claimed in an interview with NBC News last week: If they don’t make a deal, they will be bombed.

Following this threat, the US Director General of the State Department summoned the Swiss Ambassador to Tehran as the guardian of US interests and delivered an official note of warning from the Islamic Republic of Iran to him. The meeting condemned the US President’s provocative and illegal statements and emphasized Iran’s serious determination to respond decisively and immediately to any threat.
