PNN – Pakistan’s President, during meetings with senior Iraqi officials and a visit to holy sites in the country, emphasized Islamabad’s readiness to develop defense and security relations with Baghdad, particularly facilitating pilgrimage travel from Pakistan to Iraq.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, in separate meetings with Iraq’s President and Prime Minister in Baghdad on Tuesday evening, Asif Ali Zardari expressed satisfaction over the continuous progress in bilateral defense relations, including training programs and deliveries from Pakistan’s defense industry to Iraq.
He reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen defense cooperation in line with Iraq’s requirements and security needs.
Zardari described his visit to Iraq as a step towards developing cultural exchanges and promoting regional harmony.
He also emphasized expanding people-to-people ties, including facilitating pilgrimage travel from Pakistan to Iraq.
During his official visit to Iraq, the President of Pakistan also visited the holy shrine and luminous shrine of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (AS) in the city of Najaf Ashraf.
Asif Ali Zardari and the accompanying delegation also visited the holy sites in Karbala.

The Pakistani President also visited the Kufa Mosque and the house attributed to Imam Ali (AS).
Zardari prayed for peace, unity, and solidarity of the Islamic nation at the holy shrines of Imam Ali (AS), Imam Hussein (AS), and Abu al-Fadl Abbas (AS).

The President of Pakistan also attended the Kufa Mosque and, while visiting various parts of the mosque, had a cordial conversation with a group of pilgrims.
Asif Ali Zardari went to the city of Kadhimiya yesterday after meeting with the President and Prime Minister of Iraq.

The President of Pakistan visited the shrines of Imam Kazim (AS) and Imam Musa Kazim (AS) and Imam Jawad (AS).
