Pakistani Prime Minister: The Government will support minority rights.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the Pakistani government, guided by the high values of religion and the Constitution, is committed to the full participation of minorities in the country’s institutions, including parliament and the mainstream of society.
In a message on the occasion of the “National Minorities Day” observed on August 11, he said: “Today, the entire nation, including me, observes the National Minorities Day to protect their rights and appreciate their key role in the development and progress of the country.”
“Today, we renew our pledge to always strive for religious freedom and equal rights for minorities, in the light of the teachings of the founder of Pakistan and the teachings of Islam,” added Shehbaz Sharif.
“The historic speech of August 11, 1947, by the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, is an ideological guarantee of a secure future for minorities in Pakistan,” the Pakistani Prime Minister recalled. “The welfare and well-being of all minorities in Pakistan, including Sikhs, Christians, Hindus, and Parsis, is one of the duties and priorities of the Pakistani government.”
