Pakistani professor warns: America seeks to “change the map of the Middle East”
Dr. Salma Malek, a professor of political and defense sciences at Quaid-e-Azam University, said in an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of the International Conference on Regional Stability at the Institute for Strategic Studies in Islamabad on Monday: “What is certain today is America’s attempt to change the map of the Middle East, and we have seen part of it in Israel’s aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He stated: “It seems that the United States is not happy with the proximity of the countries of the region and instead is engineering an anti-Iranian plan and striking at its internal stability and unity.”
This expert on strategic issues said: “America’s adventures in the region, its role in the Gaza war, and anti-Iranian behaviors require our vigilance and special attention from the rulers of Islamic countries because, unlike America, Iran has shown that it never seeks instability and undermines security.”
He emphasized: “Today, we have a great need for the unity of the Islamic world. The unity of Muslim governments is inevitable to neutralize the anti-Iranian sanctions, and for this, creating an atmosphere of trust is essential.”
Regarding the role of the European Troika in activating the snapback against Iran, Dr. Salma Malek said: We are witnessing the Europeans’ dependence on America, and the main reason for this is the war in Ukraine, because Westerners feel insecure, which has led to Washington’s increasing demands on European parties.
He added: This situation will continue as long as the West depends on America, and unfortunately, America will ruin the path of any country that wants to take an independent step for its own interests.
According to IRNA, in late August of this year, the European Troika, consisting of France, Britain, and Germany, contrary to all agreements and consultations made by our country’s diplomatic apparatus, announced in a letter to the United Nations their readiness to activate the trigger mechanism 10 years after the signing of the JCPOA.
This process eventually led to the return of six previous Security Council resolutions imposed on the country due to Iran’s nuclear program to the international arena, with the European Troika abusing the dispute resolution mechanism included in the Iran nuclear agreement and the P5+1.
