Pakistan’s defense minister addressed the US: It is our right to receive gas from Iran

PNN – The Minister of Defense of Pakistan considered it Pakistan’s right to obtain easy and affordable energy from its neighboring country, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Pakistani media, during an interview with the media after today’s meeting of the National Assembly in Islamabad, Khawaja Mohammad Asif reacted to America’s opposition to the advancement of the joint Iran-Pakistan gas project.

He said: America, which opposes the plan to transfer Iran’s gas to Pakistan, should also tell us its alternative solution.

Pakistan’s defense minister, pointing out that his country has to buy gas from the world market at a huge rate, asked Washington to understand Pakistan’s economic challenge.

He said: If our neighboring country Iran is able to provide easy and affordable energy, it is Pakistan’s right to benefit from this opportunity.

The Minister of Defense of Pakistan also said about the latest state of relations between the country and the interim ruling body of Afghanistan: Islamabad is extremely worried about the growth of terrorism on its borders with Afghanistan.

He added: “The behavior of the Afghan side takes a different form every day, and this has limited Pakistan’s options for interacting with its neighbor.”

Khawaja Asif addressed the Afghan government: until the shelters of the terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan are not included in the territory of Afghanistan and the behavior of Kabul does not change, the current tensions will continue.
