Pakistan’s defense minister has refused to participate in disarming Hamas in Gaza.
The controversial remarks of a Pakistani government official about the country’s possible role in advancing the goals of the so-called Gaza ceasefire agreement reached in Cairo have provoked reactions from the country’s political and media circles.
Condemning the statements of “Daniel Chaudhry”, one of the country’s government information officials, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif strongly rejected any decision by Islamabad to join goals that are contrary to the aspirations of Palestine.
He considered any possible participation of the Pakistani army in the international force in Gaza, as well as helping to disarm the Hamas resistance, as baseless and denied it.
The Pakistani Defense Minister added that his country has never pursued such goals and does not consider it worthy of it.
Informed sources in Pakistan say that the country will soon announce its official and final position on the nature and manner of joining the international force in Gaza.
Pakistan’s defense minister said last week that Pakistan was ready to be part of an international force being prepared to deploy to the Gaza Strip if invited, during an interview with Al Arabiya’s English service about the recent developments in Gaza.
The force is part of US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan for Gaza, which led to a fragile ceasefire between the Israeli regime and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
