Pakistan’s missile programs were once again targeted by US sanctions

PNN – The United States once again targeted the military cooperation between Beijing and Islamabad and imposed sanctions on Pakistan’s missile programs under the same pretext, a similar action that faced a reaction from Pakistan earlier this year, which condemned Washington’s political use of the arms control regime.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Pakistani media, Washington has sanctioned several Chinese companies, including a research institute, which were one of the main suppliers of Pakistan’s ballistic missiles.

This year, the United States, in a similar action, targeted 3 companies based in China under the pretext of supplying items that can be used in Pakistan’s long-range missiles.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller confirmed the country’s latest action against Pakistan’s missile programs and claimed that the Beijing Machinery Industry Automation Research Institute has partnered with Pakistan to provide test equipment for missile engines for Shaheen-3, Ababil and possibly larger systems.

He stated that sanctions have also been imposed on some companies based in China and a Chinese national for knowingly transferring equipment under the restrictions of missile technology and innovative equipment based in Pakistan.

Mumtaz Zahra, the spokesperson of Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, said in response to the latest US sanctions that Islamabad is currently investigating the situation.

Earlier this year, the spokesperson of Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement in response to similar US sanctions against Islamabad’s missile programs: We condemn Washington’s political use of the arms control regime.

Pakistan has always emphasized that the activities of this country in the field of producing military weapons, including all types of missiles and nuclear weapons, are completely clear and this country has not committed any mistake in this direction.
