The Guardian wrote today that a White House spokesman confirmed a telephone conversation between Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief and chief of defense forces, and US President Donald Trump last Sunday regarding the war in the region.

At the same time, Tahir Andrabi, spokesman for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, today, in response to a media question about any role this country might have in the discussion of de-escalation between Tehran and Washington, stated: If the parties want, Islamabad is always willing to host the talks.

He added: Pakistan has always supported dialogue and diplomacy to promote peace and stability in the region.

According to this report, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezishkiyan held a telephone conversation yesterday. Hours later, the foreign ministers of the two countries also held a telephone conversation.

Shahbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan assures Iran that it will continue to play a role in helping to reduce tensions in the region.
