A resolution to be approved in the Security Council needs 9 votes from the 15 members of this council without opposition or veto from its permanent members, including the United States, Russia, England, China and France, and the resolution proposed by the United States was approved without any opposition or veto.
In this 7-point resolution, it is stated that the resolution proposed by the United States reminds all relevant resolutions regarding the situation in the Middle East, including the issue of Palestine, and emphasizes the importance of the continuous diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar and the United States with the aim of achieving a comprehensive ceasefire agreement including three stages.
This resolution states: It welcomes the new ceasefire proposal announced on May 31, which Israel accepted, and calls on Hamas to accept it as well, and calls on both sides to fully implement its terms without delay and unconditionally.
This resolution notes that the implementation of this proposal can have the following results in three stages.
The approved resolution emphasizes the importance of the parties adhering to the terms of this proposal after the agreement and asks all member states and the United Nations to support its implementation.
The resolution rejects any attempt to change the population or territory in the Gaza Strip, including any measures that reduce the territory of Gaza.
The democratic president of the United States of America, who is under pressure from international institutions and global public opinion inside and outside the United States because of his support for Israel in the current war in Gaza, stated: Israel’s new proposal is a road map for a lasting ceasefire and the release of all hostages.
On May 26, the Israeli army also killed at least 41 Palestinians, including women and children, and wounded dozens of others, with an attack on the refugee camp in Rafah city in the south of the Gaza Strip under the pretext of destroying Hamas, which has caused international concern because it worsens the situation in the Gaza Strip.
According to the latest statistics of the Gaza Ministry of Health, the number of martyrs of the Israeli war in Gaza since October 7, 2023 has reached 36 thousand 586 people and the number of wounded has reached 83 thousand 74 people.
