PNN – Manon Aubry, a member of the European Parliament from France’s left-wing La France Insoumise party and co-chair of the Left group in the European Parliament, is currently in Palestine, where she has highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which remains under blockade and continuous bombardment.
In recent remarks, Aubry spoke of genocide in Gaza and escalating colonization in the West Bank, urging Europe to break its silence and act to stop these injustices. While observing conditions on the ground, she pointed specifically to Gaza’s catastrophic situation, where civilians continue to endure siege, airstrikes, and deprivation. Meanwhile, in the West Bank, she noted that Israeli settlement expansion has intensified, and Palestinians are increasingly stripped of their rights.
Aubry condemned Israel’s confiscation of Palestinian land, settler violence, and the severe economic hardship caused by the occupation. She stressed that these actions are not only violations of international law but also part of Israel’s broader colonial strategy aimed at entrenching control and erasing Palestinian identity.

A key part of her remarks focused on the city of Hebron, one of the most sensitive areas in the West Bank. She described Hebron as a symbol of Israel’s colonial ideology, noting that more than 28 military checkpoints restrict movement in the city and that Palestinians face escalating humiliation and violence. Entire streets are closed to Palestinians, and children must take long, dangerous detours just to reach their schools. Aubry called this a clear example of Israel’s “apartheid regime” and urged an end to such repression and discrimination.
Aubry called on European countries to end their silence and take effective measures to stop these widespread human rights violations. She stressed that Europe must fulfill its responsibilities toward Palestinian rights and put an end to its tolerance of these abuses. Only through international pressure and global solidarity, she argued, can this crisis be resolved.
Her statements, made as a sitting member of the European Parliament, have drawn renewed international attention to the situation in Palestine. Aubry insists the time has come to dismantle what she calls Israel’s apartheid system—and that Europe must play a decisive role in making this happen.
