Palestinian analyst: Hope for changing the nature of the PA is nothing more than a mirage

PNN – Referring to the appointment of Sheikh as deputy head of the PA, one analyst said: This appointment is not due to Sheikh’s combative history, but to satisfy Tel Aviv and some Arab countries.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Shahab News Agency, political analyst Yasser Al-Za’atira said, referring to the appointment of Hussein Al-Sheikh as deputy to Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority: The appointment of the Sheikh as deputy, or more precisely, as a possible successor to Mahmoud Abbas, was not surprising, as all evidence indicated that things were moving in this direction.

Al-Za’atira clarified: The appointment of the Sheikh was not due to his combative history, as some Fatah movement circles claim, but rather to please the Zionist occupiers and some influential Arab countries.

The analyst said: What is important for Mahmoud Abbas is the hostile approach to the resistance and the insistence on repeating failed experiences and preserving the body of the establishment regardless of the behavior and movements of the occupiers and the aggressions of this regime.

Referring to the Sheikh’s abundant praise for Mahmoud Abbas after this appointment, Al-Za’atira said: The Sheikh has elevated Mahmoud Abbas to the level of Saladin and above, and has used exaggerated titles and descriptions for him.

The analyst emphasized: The hope of changing the nature of the PA, the Palestine Liberation Organization, or the Fatah movement is nothing more than a mirage, and there is no escape except to get rid of these organizations, especially after Mahmoud Abbas’s outrageous stance against the resistance and Gaza.

The Palestine Liberation Organization announced on Saturday that its executive committee has elected Hussein al-Sheikh as deputy to Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority.

Some analysts believe that the appointment of Hussein Al-Sheikh to this position could be a prelude to appointing a successor to Mahmoud Abbas.

In this regard, Al-Shahed News Agency wrote that the appointment of Hussein Al-Sheikh, a member of the Fatah Central Committee, as Deputy Chairman of the Palestinian Authority, has aroused the admiration and satisfaction of the Americans and Israelis, especially given the extensive and public relations he has with the occupiers and Arab regimes.

Foreign Policy magazine previously published a lengthy report on the sheikh, stating that the occupation authorities admire him and view him as a potential successor to Mahmoud Abbas. He has strong ties to Israeli security circles and, in return, is fiercely hostile to Hamas.
