Palestinian group: Security Council resolution on Gaza requires implementation guarantees

PNN – The Popular Front Movement for the Liberation of Palestine announced in a statement in response to the approval of the draft ceasefire resolution in Gaza that this resolution requires implementation guarantees.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Palestine’s Sama news agency, the statement of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine states: The approval of the resolution proposed by the US for a cease-fire in Gaza by the Security Council requires executive guarantees to lead to the permanent cessation of aggression and the complete withdrawal of the Zionists from the Gaza Strip.

This Palestinian group added: There are general sentences and ambiguous phrases in the text of the resolution that should be explained in detail so that the occupying regime will not be given an opportunity to resume its military aggression.

This statement continues: America’s hostile stance towards our people and involvement in the destructive war of the Zionists in the Gaza Strip makes every move of the American side suspicious and should be watched out for.

A resolution to be approved in the Security Council requires 9 votes from the 15 members of this council without opposition or veto from its permanent members, including the United States, Russia, England, China and France, and the resolution proposed by the United States was approved without any opposition or veto of this council.

In this 7-point resolution, it is stated that the resolution proposed by the United States reminds all relevant resolutions regarding the situation in the Middle East, including the issue of Palestine, and emphasizes the importance of the continuous diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar and the United States with the aim of achieving a comprehensive ceasefire agreement including three stages.

It is stated in this resolution: It welcomes the new ceasefire proposal announced on May 31, which Israel accepted, and asks Hamas to accept it as well, and asks both sides to fully implement its terms without delay and without restrictions.

This resolution emphasizes that if the negotiations for the first phase take more than 6 weeks, the ceasefire will continue as long as the negotiations are ongoing, and the readiness of the United States, Egypt and Qatar to ensure that the negotiations continue until all agreements are reached.

The approved resolution emphasizes the importance of the parties adhering to the terms of this proposal after the agreement and asks all member states and the United Nations to support its implementation.

The resolution rejects any attempt to change the population or territory in the Gaza Strip, including any measures that reduce the territory of Gaza.

On May 31, 2024, on the eve of the elections on November 5 this year, US President Joe Biden announced that Israel presented a new proposal to establish a ceasefire and exchange prisoners, which was presented to Hamas through Qatar, and called on the parties not to miss this opportunity and agree on this proposal.

The democratic president of the United States of America, who is under pressure from international institutions and global public opinion inside and outside the United States because of his support for Israel in the current war in Gaza, stated: Israel’s new proposal is a road map for a lasting ceasefire and the release of all hostages.

On May 26, the Israeli army also killed at least 41 Palestinians, including women and children, and wounded dozens of others, with an attack on the refugee camp in Rafah city in the south of the Gaza Strip under the pretext of destroying Hamas, which has caused international concern because it worsens the situation in the Gaza Strip.

According to the latest statistics of the Gaza Ministry of Health, the number of martyrs of the Israeli war in Gaza since October 7, 2023 has reached 36 thousand 586 people and the number of wounded has reached 83 thousand 74 people.
