Palestinian supporters in America have blocked routes to 2 major airports in the country.
Last Thursday, routes leading to two of the largest airports in the United States in the cities of New York and Los Angeles were temporarily blocked due to a rally in support of the people of Gaza. Participants in this rally demanded a quick end to the Gaza war and the establishment of a ceasefire.
Routes to New York’s JFK Airport were completely blocked for 20 minutes due to the widespread presence of people in support of the Palestinian nation. The participants in this rally were holding hands and carrying placards in support of the Palestinian people and against the Zionist regime.
At the same time, some American protesters also blocked routes to Los Angeles International Airport with various obstacles. Some reports also indicate clashes between protesters and police forces.
Security officials and police in the United States have said that 256 people were detained during the rallies on routes to JFK Airport and 36 people were also detained during the rallies on routes to Los Angeles International Airport.
The JFK and Los Angeles airports are among the six busiest airports in the United States (according to last year’s statistics). Official figures indicate that each of these two airports handles 26 million passengers annually.
Since the beginning of the Gaza war, the United States has been the scene of various rallies and protests in support of the Palestinian people. Participants in these rallies demand a quick end to the war and bloodshed against the people of Gaza and an immediate ceasefire.
Earlier, pro-Palestinian groups in the United States launched widespread protests against the Biden administration’s policies in response to the attacks by the Zionist regime in Gaza, at the same time as Christmas celebrations.
