Permission to carry nuclear bombs for stealth fighters of the US Air Force.
According to Tass, one of the spokespersons of the “F-35 Joint Program” office of the US Ministry of Defense, this institution has officially issued a license to carry the “B-61-12” nuclear bomb for the F-35A stealth fighter.
According to “Breaking Defense” magazine, this license does not apply to F-35B and F-35C fighters. It is not yet clear how many of these fighters capable of carrying nuclear warheads will be deployed in Europe by the US Air Force.
The first production line of the updated version of the B-61 nuclear bomb, which entered the US Air Force fleet in 1968, was unveiled in November 2021. This nuclear bomb will replace three of the four current B61 nuclear bombs.
