PNN – The President of the Southern Transitional Council of Yemen announced the beginning of a two-year transitional phase aimed at “restoring South Yemen” and called on the international community to facilitate dialogue between the south and the north.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al Mayadeen network, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council of Yemen (supported by the UAE), in a televised statement on Friday announcing a two-year transitional phase aimed at “restoring the country of South Yemen,” claimed: This decision “stems from the desire and will of the people of the south to restore and declare their independent state” and is based on “popular delegation and national responsibility”; an action which he said is necessary to prevent “the escalation of internal conflicts and divisions.”
Al-Zubaidi called on the United Nations and the international community to organize a dialogue between relevant parties in the south and north under international supervision; a dialogue that must be conducted within a specified timeframe and accompanied by holding a referendum on the right to self-determination for the residents of the south.

Stating that announcing the transitional phase puts a clear political and legal path before the international community and the region, he called on government institutions to take action during this period to normalize services, ensure regular payment of salaries, and stabilize living conditions.
He also said that political dialogues must be “time-bound and based on rejecting any imposition of reality by force” to pave the way for a just and lasting solution. According to him, the goal of the transitional phase is “to avoid further conflict and ensure a safe path for the future of South Yemen.”
The Southern Transitional Council reiterated in its statement that the south during the transitional period will be “a supporter of its partners in the north” and supports any effort to “confront the coup, rebuild state institutions, and achieve security and stability”; a matter which, according to the Council, is “in line with common interests and regional security.”
Al-Zubaidi warned that if the Council’s call for dialogue is not answered or the people of the south, their land, or its forces are targeted by a military attack, the Southern Constitutional Declaration will immediately become enforceable.
He emphasized that “all options will remain on the table” unless the demands of the southern people are addressed within the set timeframe and with the participation of relevant parties and the international community.
The Southern Transitional Council, by publishing a document named “The Constitutional Declaration of the State (Country) of Southern Arabia,” announced the initial provisions of the constitution of this claimed state.
According to the first article of this declaration, The State (Country) of Southern Arabia is an independent state (country) with full sovereignty and its capital is Aden, and its borders are defined as the international borders of the former Democratic Republic of Yemen.
According to this document, the political system will be based on the separation of powers within the framework of a “civil democratic state.” The declaration also emphasizes holding a public referendum after the end of the transitional period to determine the final nature of the political system.
The issuance of the South Yemen secession declaration comes as Saudi Arabian fighter jets bombed several positions of Southern Transitional Council elements, reportedly killing 8 people in this attack.
Clashes continue in various areas of the “Seiyun” district, and forces affiliated with Riyadh have announced their intention to liberate the city of Seiyun.
