Politico reports Trump’s immigration policies have failed in US courts.

According to the publication, dozens of judges across the United States, appointed by both Democrats and Republicans, have ruled against Trump’s bold immigration policies. In other words, Trump, who focused on mass deportations before winning the presidential election, has now seen a large part of his efforts reversed by American judges.

Politico has reviewed hundreds of court cases and found that despite the Washington administration’s severe border crackdown, many parts of Trump’s immigration agenda have hit obstacles, and the courts are increasingly resistant to his efforts to quickly detain and deport immigrants living in the United States.

According to this American publication, Trump’s controversial and often haphazard actions in deporting immigrants have already been negatively responded to three times by the Supreme Court, which is a reminder to the government that immigrants must follow the legal path out of the country. Meanwhile, dozens of judges from across the country, appointed by Democrats and Republicans, have responded even more strongly to the White House.

A judge wrote on the X platform: Trump’s use of war powers to quickly expel Venezuelan gang members is a path to complete lawlessness.

Another judge declared that the detention of students with anti-Zionist views is reminiscent of the Red Scare (the terror of the height of communism) and McCarthyism.

Another judge emphasized that failure to follow due process in some deportations can lead to “harassment, torture and death.”

In response to these criticisms, Trump’s senior aides have attacked the courts, calling the judges “rebellious and radical.” Trump himself has called for the indictment of some judges. Among the most recent of these reactions is the statement of Trump’s senior adviser Steven Miller, who on Wednesday accused the judges who block the president’s deportation policies of “coup, rebellion, and burning the Constitution.”

But a day after his remarks, another judge appointed by the Trump administration ruled to block some of his deportation plans.

The publication concluded by noting that Trump’s immigration agenda has not been uniformly thwarted, with him sending thousands of troops to the southern border, granting immigration officials sweeping powers, and intensifying border surveillance in an effort to drastically reduce illegal crossings. But the important thing is that many of his policies have been blocked by district judges.

According to IRNA, Trump has made progress in fulfilling his signature promise to control the border; the number of people trying to illegally cross from Mexico into the United States fell sharply in the last year of Joe Biden’s presidency, from a high of 249,740 in December 2023 to 47,324 in December 2024. Under Trump, that number rose to 8,346 in February and 7,181 in March.

However, it is not yet clear whether the number of deportations will match the Biden era. In some cases, people with no criminal record have been deported without a trial. The case of Kilmar Abrigo Garcia, who was sent to a prison in El Salvador without a trial, is a case in point.
