According to a joint poll conducted last month by Public First and Politico, the vast majority of American and British adults support their governments reaching an agreement, but only less than a third of respondents in the UK and 44% of Americans believe Trump will stick to it.
Politico added: The poll offers a sobering assessment of how Trump’s provocative approach to tariffs is undermining the United States’ credibility in other countries, and it is a warning to the White House about how its aggressive approach under the new US administration is pushing longtime allies to embrace its biggest economic rival, China.

According to the report, the agreement with Britain is one of the easiest of the dozens of agreements that the Trump administration has until July 8 to complete, because it was reached with a partner called Britain, which has been trying to reach a trade deal with the United States since the first Trump administration.

The agreement comes a month after the Trump administration announced steep tariffs on dozens of countries, including Britain, aimed at addressing what Trump sees as unfair trade.
The historic tariff hikes, which took effect for just a few hours, were delayed until July so the US government could negotiate trade deals with foreign countries. Trump said last week that trade deals with South Korea, India and Japan was also imminent.
