Port workers in Greece prevent goods from being shipped to the Israeli regime.
From Anatolia, at a rally held at Piers 2 and 3 of the port, union members, joined by pro-Palestinian activists, leftist groups, and lawmakers from the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), declared that they would not allow the port to become a base for supporting the Zionist regime’s massacre of Palestinians.
Markos Bakris, head of the Greek Port Workers’ Union, said, “We will not allow this port to become a base for the US, NATO, or the EU.” Our goal is to effectively stop the unloading and prevent the transport of this deadly cargo to Israel. We will not stain our hands with blood; we will not be accomplices and targets of revenge at the same time.”
According to IRNA, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the situation in Gaza as dire, saying that a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip alone was not enough and called for a two-state solution in which Palestinians and Israelis could enjoy their rights.
Israel, with the support of the United States, launched a devastating war against the residents of the Gaza Strip from October 7, 2023, to January 19, 2025, that left widespread destruction and many human casualties but did not achieve its stated goals of destroying the Hamas movement and freeing Zionist prisoners. On January 19, 2025 a ceasefire was established in the Gaza Strip based on an agreement between Hamas and the Zionist regime, after which the Israeli army resumed its military aggression against the Gaza Strip on the morning of Tuesday, March 18, in violation of the ceasefire provisions.
A new round of Gaza ceasefire negotiations resumed on Sunday, July 5, ahead of the meeting between Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday.
