PNN – Following the intensification of the manpower shortage crisis in the Israeli army and growing concerns among Haredi parties over compulsory military service, these parties have threatened Netanyahu’s cabinet.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Arab 48, Israeli media sources reported that Haredi (ultra-Orthodox Jewish) parties have threatened Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that they will push toward dissolving parliament and holding early elections if he does not accelerate the review of a bill exempting Haredim from mandatory military service.

According to the report, these parties form a core pillar of the ruling coalition in the occupied territories, and such threats could put the future of Netanyahu’s cabinet at risk.

Previously, the Shas party with 11 seats and United Torah Judaism with seven seats had also threatened to bring down Netanyahu’s government. The current Knesset term ends in October 2026, and the implementation of these threats would push Israel toward early elections.

The ruling coalition holds 68 of the 120 seats in parliament and needs at least 61 seats to remain in power.

This comes as the Israeli army, facing a manpower shortage, is seeking to recruit Haredim, who make up about 13 percent of the population in the occupied territories.
