Prisoner Exchange and “Ethics of Resistance”: What’s Going on in the Prisons of the Zionist Regime?
In a report, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency examined the behavior of Palestinian resistance groups and the Israeli regime in their interactions with prisoners and wrote that as the exchange of prisoners continued during the past four rounds of the first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza, the clear difference between the physical conditions of Palestinian prisoners and Israeli prisoners is quite clear.
Anadolu adds that amidst the devastation caused by the Israeli regime’s attacks on Gaza, Israeli prisoners appear in clean, tidy clothes and in good physical condition, but the Palestinian prisoners who have been released from Israeli prisons show signs of beatings, hunger, and psychological torture.
Difficulty walking
In the initial images published of Palestinian prisoners released during the past four rounds, their severe weight loss is noticeable. In addition, images of some prisoners show that they are barely able to walk due to their poor physical conditions, and some of them were even taken to the hospital immediately after their release.
“Abdul Rahman Hassan Washah” is one of the Palestinian prisoners released in the second round of the exchange, he says that he entered the Israeli prison weighing 115 kilograms and was released from prison weighing only 55 kilograms due to severe physical torture and starvation.
“Baha Awisat”, another Palestinian prisoner from the city of Bethlehem in the southern West Bank, says: We were exposed to hunger, disease, and the most severe insults daily, and this continued until the last hours of the prison.
Unlike the conditions of Palestinian prisoners, prisoners of the Zionist regime are in good physical condition when they are released and even receive gifts upon their release.
