Prominent Lebanese fighter released from French prison after 41 years.
Lebanese sources announced the decision of the French court to release the prominent Lebanese activist “George Abdullah” on July 25.
According to Lebanese media reports, the French court has issued a ruling to release George Abdullah after 41 years.
Jean-Louis Chalance, George Abdullah’s lawyer, announced this news to Al-Mayadeen TV: George Abdullah will be released on July 25.
He added: “George Abdullah’s arrest was a political decision, and he will be released after 41 years and return to Beirut.”
Al-Mayadeen’s correspondent in Paris also reported that the Lebanese embassy in France will take the necessary steps to transfer George Abdullah to the airport and prepare for his return to Lebanon.
According to Tasnim, George Ibrahim Abdullah, a Lebanese fighter against the Zionist regime, was born in 1951 in the village of Al-Qabiyat in the Akkar region of Lebanon. After completing his education, he began his anti-Zionist struggle in various branches, and his movement carried out 5 operations in 1981 and 1982. Abdullah was arrested on one of his trips to France in 1984 after being pursued by Mossad elements and Lebanese mercenaries of this spy organization on the pretext of carrying a fake identity card.
Sheikh Naim Qassem, Secretary General of Hezbollah in Lebanon, emphasized in a meeting with George Abdullah’s family members that the issue of the captivity of this Lebanese fighter is one of the resistance cases that Hezbollah is continuously paying special attention to. The French government has violated the most basic human rights laws by not releasing George Abdullah. The continued detention of George Abdullah is a stain on France’s record that can only be erased by his release.
