Pulitzer winner: Venezuela risks US intervention.
Tim Weiner, a veteran New York Times investigative journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner, emphasized in an interview with a Spanish think tank: The greatest threat to American security is President Donald Trump, and Venezuela will be another unpleasant chapter in the history of US interventions.
“It is only a matter of time before America suffers an information disaster. A new 9/11, probably unlike any we have seen before. But it may be happening right now, and if it does, Donald Trump will try to use it to advance his authoritarian agenda.”
This bleak premise is what Tim Weiner, a Pulitzer Prize winner for his work on US intelligence services, defended in an interview with the Spanish think tank El Orden Mundial, IRNA reported on Monday.
Wiener has just published his new book, The Mission, which chronicles the CIA’s history over the past 25 years. The book is a follow-up to his classic Legacy of Ashes (2007), which chronicles the agency’s ups and downs from its founding in 1947 to the end of the Cold War.
