Putin announces the possibility of nuclear arms control agreement with the US.

Reuters news agency wrote that Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with senior civil and military officials at the Kremlin today, updated them on the status of negotiations with the United States on Ukraine, as well as bilateral talks with Kiev.

Putin said: “In my opinion, and as everyone knows, the US government is making quite energetic and sincere efforts to stop the conflict, end the crisis, and reach agreements that are in the interest of all parties involved in this conflict.”

Putin said that the negotiations with the United States are aimed at creating “long-term peace between the two countries, in Europe and the world as a whole, if agreements are reached on strategic offensive arms control at the next stages.”

According to IRNA, Yuri Ushakov, an assistant to the Russian president, had said hours ago that the meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States would take place at noon tomorrow (August 15), Tehran time, at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Alaska.

He added: “The main topic of the agenda of this meeting will be the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. The leaders of the two countries will also discuss issues related to ensuring peace and security, issues on the international and regional agenda, as well as bilateral cooperation.”
