Pyongyang: South Korea is a mouthpiece for American interests.
According to Reuters, North Korea criticized the statements of South Korean senior officials about the recent visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to Russia, stressing that establishing and maintaining close relations between neighboring countries is a natural and normal thing.
“KCNA”, the official media of North Korea, while strongly criticizing the “malignant slander” of South Korean President Yoon Seok-you about the “friendly cooperation” between North Korea and Russia, described the South Korean president as a “spokesman” for the interests of the United States.
South Korea’s Foreign Ministry released a statement on Saturday announcing that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, along with his South Korean and Japanese counterparts, expressed “grave concern” over talks between Russia and North Korea on military cooperation. US and South Korean officials have expressed concern that Kim Jong-un’s visit to Russia will allow Moscow to replenish its dwindling stockpile for the war in Ukraine by acquiring ammunition and military weapons from North Korea.
South Korean President Yoon Seok-yol said last Wednesday that if Russia helps North Korea increase its weapons programs in return for aid in the Ukraine war, it would be a “direct provocation” and Seoul and its allies would not be left idle.
North Korean media announced that during his recent visit to Russia, the leader of North Korea met with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and discussed increasing military cooperation and military forces of the two countries and international issues.
Kim Jong-un visited this country on September 13 at the official invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Kim Jong-un arrived in Vladivostok in eastern Russia by train on September 13 (22 September) with the official invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin welcomed the leader of North Korea at the Vastuchny space base, and after a joint visit to this base, the leaders of North Korea and Russia held a short conversation with reporters, after which the 4-hour, two-person talks began behind closed doors.
The details of the secret 4-hour talks between Putin and Kim Jong-un have not been published yet, but in an interview with journalists, Vladimir Putin said to Kim Jong-un: “I am very happy to see you again and to be your host in Russia.” This time, as I promised, we will meet at Vastochenyi Space Base. Our meeting is at a special time, that is, 75 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries; Russia (Soviet Union) was the first country to recognize North Korea. We need to discuss economic interaction, humanitarian issues and the situation in the region.
Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea, said that “for North Korea, relations with Russia are the first priority” and added: I am confident that this meeting will raise the relations between the two countries to a new level. North Korea wants to further develop relations with Russia and supports the country’s decisions. We are with Russia in the fight against imperialism.
