Qatari PM: Gaza ceasefire not possible without complete Israeli withdrawal
He added that Qatar’s relations with Hamas date back 13 years and were established at the request of the United States. He said Qatar has faced criticism and attacks because of these ties. According to him, Qatar’s communication with Hamas led to the Gaza ceasefire agreement and the release of prisoners. He emphasized that Qatar’s support was directed toward the residents of the Gaza Strip, not toward the Hamas movement, and that accusations of Qatari financial support for Hamas are baseless.
Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that an attack on a mediating country by one of the parties to a conflict is unethical and meaningless. He said the Israeli attack on Doha occurred while Qatar was trying to persuade Hamas to accept the ceasefire agreement.
He continued: We will continue our support for the Palestinian people, but we will never rebuild what others have destroyed. The residents of Gaza do not want to leave their land, and no one can force them to do so.
