Qatar: There is no peace with Israel without resolving the Palestinian issue.
Majid Al-Ansari, advisor to the Prime Minister and spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, stated in an interview with the American network CNN: Qatar has always believed that the Palestinian issue is an Arab issue and must end with an Arab-Israeli solution.
He added: Until this crisis is resolved, it will be very difficult to imagine a comprehensive peace in the region.
He referred to the recent statement of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which emphasized doubts about the future of regional agreements and arrangements, including agreements to normalize relations with the Zionist regime.
According to Al-Ansari, peace in the region is not a bilateral issue, but rather part of the regional security structure, the basis of which is the resolution of the Palestinian issue.
He also considered Qatar’s position on the agreement to normalize relations with the Zionist regime to be similar to Saudi Arabia’s position and based on resolving the Palestinian issue, and emphasized that this view is the dominant approach of the Arab world.
In another part of his remarks, Al-Ansari addressed the recent Israeli attack on the residence of members of the Hamas delegation in Doha, saying: “The attack took place in the Qatifa neighborhood, a neighborhood with a population of about 5,000, six schools and 13 embassies.”
He explained that the target of the attack was a meeting in which the US proposal for a prisoner exchange was being discussed, an issue that, according to him, has raised serious doubts about the sincerity of the Zionist regime in the negotiations.
Al-Ansari added that the attack took place just one day after the Qatari Prime Minister met with the head of the Hamas negotiating team, a meeting in which US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a prisoner exchange was presented to the Hamas team.
Al-Ansari further noted that Qatar currently has more than 12 active mediation cases and has managed to release 148 prisoners, including 119 Israelis, from Gaza over the past two years, which shows that negotiations are the only way to return the prisoners to their families.
He noted that the Zionist regime’s aggression against Doha has sparked widespread anger in the Persian Gulf countries, the Arab world, and the international community.
