Qatar urges international pressure on Israel to halt West Bank settlements.
According to RIA Novosti, the Qatari Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement: “We condemn the Israeli regime’s agreement to build 19 settlements in the West Bank.”
The statement said: “The Israeli occupation regime’s agreement to build settlements in the West Bank is a clear violation of legitimate international resolutions.”
The Qatari Foreign Ministry added: “The international community must adhere to its legal and moral responsibilities and oblige Israel to stop its settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.”
Qatar also stressed its consistent position in supporting the Palestinian cause and supporting the resistance of the Palestinian people.
Earlier, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich presented his plan to legalize 19 new settlements in the West Bank to cabinet members, and they agreed to the plan.
Channel 12 of Israeli television reported that some of the settlements that have been approved are completely new, while others will be subject to Israeli regulations and laws for legal organization.
After the Israeli regime occupied the West Bank and Jerusalem in 1967, it built hundreds of Zionist settlements in these areas.
The United Nations has repeatedly condemned the Zionist regime’s settlement plans in the occupied Palestinian territories and considered them illegal, but the regime continues to violate UN resolutions and not only has it not stopped settlement construction in the occupied territories, but has also intensified it.
