PNN – Following yesterday’s attack on Qatar’s Ras Laffan gas facility, the country’s energy minister acknowledged that the American company Exxon Mobil was a partner in the damaged units.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Saad Al-Kaabi, Minister of Energy and CEO of the state-owned Qatar Energy Company, announced that one of the two gas-to-liquids (GTL) facilities was damaged in the Iranian attacks.
Al-Kaabi acknowledged that the American oil giant Exxon Mobil is a partner and shareholder in the affected units.
He added: As a result of these attacks, we will lose 12.8 million tons of LNG annually for 3 to 5 years, equivalent to 17 percent of Qatar’s exports.
Qatar’s Energy Minister stated: We may be forced to declare a state of emergency in long-term LNG supply contracts with Italy and Belgium.
The CEO of the state-owned Qatar Energy Company stated: Our gas condensate exports will decrease by approximately 24%, LPG by 13%, naphtha and sulfur by 6%, and helium by 14%.
Stating that the annual revenue lost from the three damaged facilities amounts to approximately $20 billion, he said that the facilities, which cost approximately $26 billion to build years ago, should not have been attacked.
Qatar’s Energy Minister emphasized: To resume production, we must first stop the conflicts.
Yesterday, in response to the Israeli regime’s attack on South Pars facilities, the Iranian armed forces targeted US-related oil and gas facilities in the region with drone and missile attacks.
Yesterday, the Israel Radio and Television Organization publicly stated that the attack on the South Pars field was carried out with the coordination and approval of the United States.
