Qianwen: A Chinese alternative to ChatGPT.
Alibaba Group announced in a statement published in the Global Times on Monday that it has released a new beta version of its Qwen (Thousand Questions of Wisdom) application, a move that will see the company enter a more serious competition in the consumer AI market.
The statement added that the application, which is developed using the Qwen 3 model – the world’s most advanced open source model – is aimed directly at ChatGPT by offering free access and integrating with a variety of everyday services.
Users can also receive a complete research report in seconds and automatically create a multi-page PowerPoint file with just one command, according to an Alibaba Cloud representative.
In addition, the Chinese software won a strategic real-time investment competition against leading global models such as Google Gemini, ChatGPT, and Grac.
This statement comes as the White House claimed in a statement that Alibaba is technically supporting the Chinese military in its fight against the United States, but Beijing emphasizes that “the Chinese government attaches great importance to protecting privacy and data security in accordance with the law and has never forced or will never force companies to collect or store data in ways that violate the law.”
In the same link, Alibaba added in a statement that the Chinese company is willing to connect services such as location and maps, food ordering, ticket booking, office tools, education, shopping, and health to this software to expand its capabilities.
The company also announced that an international version of the Qianwen app will be launched soon to capitalize on the model’s popularity abroad and pursue direct competition with ChatGPT in the global market.
